I call myself a narrative painter, a storyteller. I try to balance the narration with the abstract presence of the work. I use mythology, dreams, everyday occurrences and infuse them with color, rhythms and repetition. The emotional level should 'read' and there should be harmony on every level. The environment should mirror the internal geography of the figures. I focus on women's stories as they are my own or become my own as I paint. It's all personal if I go deep enough, universal.
